Montana Destination Imagination (DI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to implementing the DI creative problem solving program in our state.

2011 Montana Affiliate Celebration of Creativity

The Montana Affiliate Celebration of Creativity was held on March 26th at Sacajawea Middle School in Bozeman.  Thank you to everyone who helped make this a big success.  A big round of applause to all the appraisers, team managers, and volunteers who worked so hard to make sure the students had a successful experience.  Congratulations to all the teams who solved on of this yeaer's challenges.  Participation in a Destination ImagiNation Tournament is a great culmination for many teams, showing they've overcome challenges and succeeded in displaying their solutions.  Five of the ten first place teams will be competitng at the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee May 25 - 28.

Global Finals 2010

against many outstanding teams from all over the world.

The Manhattan Christian DI-Bot team placed 4th and received a Renaissance award for creating perfectly tuned percussion instruments built out of PVC pipe and an empty propane tank and beautiful original portraits of Illusion and Despair rendered on Plexiglass using unusual art techniques.  The combination of these amazing things is truly worthy of this award!

Above and Beyond Award

The Montana Affiliate Board of Directors wants to encourage all teams to continue applying what they learn in Destination ImagiNation in their every day lives.  The Board has created the "Above and Beyond Award".  This award honors teams that have taken their Destination ImagiNation challenge to levels much higher than program expectations. Teams use their problem solving skills and Destination ImagiNation experience to make an immediate and positive difference in their school, their community and the world.

The 2009 team, "The Flood" from Manhattan Christian School was awarded this special award at the 2010 Affiliate Tournament.

place teams went to Global Finals at the end of May.

2010 State Tournament

The 2010 State Celebration of Cretivity will be held on March 27,
2010, at Three Forks Public Schools.  Teams will demonstrate robotic technology, deliver construction materials to sites they cannot see, test structures made of newspaper and glue, determine if endangered species should be saved or allowed to die, demonstrate what puppetry, live art, and changes in opinion have in common, give a newscast about a structure made from newspaper and tape, and present their community service projects.  Thirty-seven teams
earned the right to compete in the state tournament for a chance to
attend the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in Knoxville,
Tennessee, at the end of May.

Scholarships

Montana students who participated in creative problem solving programs for two years should check out our scholarships. We are pleased to announce that Montana Destination ImagiNation is expanding its scholarship to include students pursuing a post High School degree.  MTDI will award one scholarship to a high school senior and one to a Montana High School graduate who is currently pursuing a post High School degree.  These scholarships are sponsored by the Reach Higher Montana  (http://www.reachhighermontana.org/ )

The recipients for our state scholarship will be announced at the State Tournament Awards Assembly.  

Global Finals 2009!

Opening ceremonies was packed, and Montana was well represented with our red hats and black shirts! For more pictures, check out the galleries.  

There were over 900 teams at Global Finals.  The Montana teams competed against many outstanding teams from all over the world.    The Manhattan Christian Operation Cooperation Team placed 7th. 

The Hardin Instinct Messaging team made it into the closing ceremonies video.  Bozeman PEAK's Elementary ViDIo Lit Hits team wowed us with a sword fight on a pogo sticks. The Darby Middle Level ViDIo Lit Hits team had an awsome green egg.  The Manhattan Christian Construction Challenge team had a fabulous presentation on how to relieve the congestion on Amsterdam Road that left everyone in the audience agreeing that their solution should be seriously considered by the Gallatin County Commissioners.  

2009 Scholarship Winner Announced

Kirsten Aasen Receives 2009 MTDI ScholarshipKirsten Aasen Receives 2009 MTDI ScholarshipThe recipient for the Montana Destination ImagiNation state scholarship was announced at the State Tournament Awards Assembly.  This year's winner was Kirsten Aasen from Helena High School.  Kirsten participated in Destination ImagiNation for three years.  During high school she helped at tournaments as a runner, Rising Stars Appraiser, and state tournament photographer.  Kirsten plans to study Special Education and Biology.  Congratulations to Kirsten. We wish her continued success in the future.  We hope she will continue to share with others what she has learned from creative problem solving.
