This year 20 teams chose to solve one of the seven Destination Imagination Challenges. In addition to the DI challenges officials and parents encountered the challenges that winter weather poses. This was the first year that we have had to cancel a regional tournament due to snow, blizzards, and icy roads. Therefore, 8 of our teams will be maiking their first presention of their challenge solutions for score at the Affiliate Finals on March 22, 2014, in Manhattan.

This was the first year that we have had to cancel a regional tournament due to snow, blizzards, and icy roads. Therefore, 8 of our teams will be maiking their first presention of their challenge solutions for score at the Affiliate Finals on March 22, 2014, in Manhattan.
This year teams discovered:
- how to detect hidden objects with equipment
- invented gear to protect them from an extreme environment
- created comic strip stories based on artwork
- performed three a ring circus
- researched tension and how structures undergo stress, and
- improvised stories in which characters from the past and present interacted with each other.
Teams from Bigfork, Bozeman, Darby, Frenchtown, Hamilton, Churchill, and Missoula will be competing for the right to attend the Destination Imagination Global Finals at the end of May.

Please make sure everyone on your team(s) has a copy of this information. If you need more copies of your tournament data forms youc an access interactive ones at the resource page on the Destination ImagiNation web site. You will need to log in with your team number and your e-mail address.
The schedule, map of the school, and tournament guide along with last minute reminders, media release, and the letter to the appraisers were mailed the first week of March. Beginning about 12:30, in the afternoon while teams finish the Instant Challenge and the Score Room processes the scores the MSU Undergraduate Chemistry Society will be leading a variety of Big Games and the traditional Cakewalk. Participation in a Big Game will be $1.00 and the cakewalk will be $0.50 each time. These will take place in the Elementary Gymnasium. Don't forget to bring your creative cake or gift basket for the cakewalk. The money earned from these games will be used to help our Montana Teams attend Global Finals.
Please do not leave items in the hallways as they create a safey hazzard. Please leave your props in your vehicles until you bring them to Prep Area. Once you finish performing please take your props back to your vehicles. Bring a large tote to store coats and small items. Label your tote and you can leave it in the Elementary Gym/cafeteria. If you need to repair a prop you can use the northwest hall in the Elementary school for that purpose. Please do not store your props in the halls. Leave it open so others may use it for prop repair. This will keep the tournament sites safe and uncluttered.
Remember that there will be performances in the Elementary Gym from 10:00 to noon. If you are in the gym at that time please be a respectful audience for those teams. The structural challenge, Tension Builds, and the technical challenge, Dig In, will be performing in this venue.
Good Luck to all the teams coming to the State Tournament. Invite all of your family and friends to come watch your solution. Remember try to see as many different challenges as possible during the tournament and try to catch at least one elementary, middle, and secondary level performance. Remember a we all like to have a nice sized audience.
